Product Safety

Last updated: August 23, 2026

Safe use of fishing gear requires attention to instructions, warnings, age of users, environment and condition of equipment. Read the product information before use and keep the packaging or article reference whenever possible.

1. INTENDED USE

BABALU products are intended for recreational or sport fishing, in accordance with the description and specifications of each item. They must not be used for other purposes, modified in an unsafe way or subjected to loads greater than those indicated.

Use equipment appropriate to the species, technique, environment and local conditions. Respect the fishing, conservation and animal welfare legislation applicable at the location of use.

2. HOOKS AND OTHER PIERCING COMPONENTS

  • The hooks have sharp points and can cause cuts or punctures.
  • Handle them with care and, when appropriate, use pliers and eye protection.
  • Keep them stored, closed and out of reach of children and animals.
  • Do not place loose hooks in pockets, bags or surfaces where they can be hidden.
  • Check the tip, shaft, eyelet and the presence of corrosion, deformation or cracks before use.
  • Dispose of damaged hooks safely, protecting the tip and respecting local waste rules.

3. TWISTS, CONNECTIONS AND LOADS

  • Confirm that the indicated resistance is suitable for the line, assembly and expected load.
  • Inspect fasteners, rings, eyelets and connection points before each use.
  • Replace components that are deformed, corroded, move unevenly, or have sustained an abnormal impact.
  • Keep people and animals away from the assembly path during launch and recovery.

4. FISHING LINES

  • Threads can cause cuts, entanglement or strangulation. Keep them out of the reach of children and animals.
  • Do not wrap thread under tension around fingers or other parts of the body.
  • Use a suitable tool for cutting braided line and appropriate protection when tightening knots under load.
  • Always collect and delete line segments; never leave them in the environment.
  • Replace the line when it shows wear, abrasion, abnormal discoloration or loss of integrity.

5. CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE USERS

Fishing gear is not a toy. Products with spikes, small parts or thread should be stored out of the reach of children. Use by minors should only occur under the direct and competent supervision of an adult.

6. CARE, SALT WATER AND STORAGE

After use, especially in salt water, wash equipment compatible with fresh water, dry it completely and store it in a dry, ventilated place protected from humidity, excessive heat and chemicals. These precautions help reduce corrosion and deterioration, but do not replace inspection before each use.

7. ACCIDENT, RISK OR POSSIBLE DEFECT

If a product causes or may cause an accident, has an unexpected break, dangerous edge, abnormal corrosion, loose component or other hazard:

  1. stop use immediately;
  2. set aside and preserve the product, packaging and associated components;
  3. provide or seek appropriate assistance in the event of injury; and
  4. contact BABALU at hello@babalu.pt with the subject “Product Safety”.

Indicate the reference, batch or SKU when available, the place and date of purchase, photographs and a description of the risk or incident. Do not send the product without receiving instructions.

8. ALERTS AND CORRECTIVE MEASURES

When a safety issue is identified, BABALU may contact affected customers and post correction, suspension of use, return, replacement or collection instructions. Immediately follow any notices applicable to your product.

9. PRODUCT INFORMATION AND TRACEABILITY

Identification information, manufacturer, importer, responsible economic operator, reference, batch or applicable warnings may appear on the product page, packaging, label or documentation provided. Keep these elements for the reasonable useful life of the product.
